About us.

Okej is a small Swedish-American design studio based in the US. Emmie Brower, our creative director and designer, was born and raised in Sweden. After marrying Mitchell Brower, an American engineer, they founded Okej together in 2020. Emmie’s Swedish background greatly influences the unique style and creations at Okej, including The Squiggle Collection, our first rug collection, which is made in Sweden.

Philosophy.

Why settle for mundane? The Okej philosophy is all about keeping things playful by crafting objects that offer value beyond their literal purpose. The functionality of an Okej design isn't just about serving a specific purpose, like a chair for sitting or a rug for walking on. Rather, it's intended to bring you aesthetic satisfaction while also being useful. Every element in our living spaces should inspire a sense of thrill and satisfaction.

The Squiggle collection was inspired by the funky design trends of the 1960’-70’s. The Squiggle shape was created to be an iconic shape that could very well have been seen during the “Space Age” or the 70’s. The Squiggle Collection thrives best in eclectic environments with a mix of contemporary design and vintage pieces.
